Learning Photography

There are 3 basic elements a photographer manipulates when taking a picture: subject, frame, and light. These three fundamental elements are what distinguish every photograph. The distinction between someone who takes pictures, and a photographer, is the ability to manipulate these three elements to create the desired image.

Subject

What is the point of an image.

Frame

Placing items inside a rectangular box.

Light

Choosing how light flows through an image.

Exposure

Controlling the amount of brightness and darkness in an image

Shutter Speed and Motion

Manipulating the shutter speed to control motion in the frame.

Aperture and Focus

Utilizing the focus plane of an image.
